Infrastructure & Platform Engineering
Systems that stay quiet when everything else is loud.
Northbridge Systems works with small engineering teams to design, harden, and operate the infrastructure underneath their product — so the people building the product rarely have to think about it.
What we take on
03 areas of focusInfrastructure design
Network topology, environment separation, and provisioning that holds up as a team grows past its first few servers.
Platform operations
Deployment pipelines, configuration management, and monitoring that stay boring in the best possible sense.
Reliability & hardening
Reviewing what's already running, closing the gaps, and documenting it so the next person isn't guessing.
How we work
no dashboards, no decksMost infrastructure problems aren't technology problems — they're the result of decisions made under time pressure, never revisited. We start by reading the system as it actually runs, not as it was diagrammed eighteen months ago.
Engagements are scoped narrowly on purpose. We'd rather fix three things properly than produce a roadmap for thirty things that never get built.
Everything we touch is handed back with plain documentation — what changed, why, and how to undo it. No proprietary tooling, no lock-in, no dependency on us being reachable at 3am.
We keep a short client list by design. If we take on your project, someone senior is doing the work, not delegating it.
Typical engagements
recent shapes of work| Engagement | Duration | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Infrastructure audit & hardening review | 2–3 weeks | Prioritised fix list, no surprises |
| Deployment pipeline rebuild | 3–5 weeks | Repeatable, documented releases |
| Ongoing platform support | Monthly retainer | Fewer late-night pages |
| Migration planning & execution | 4–8 weeks | Old environment retired cleanly |
"They spent the first week just reading logs and asking questions. By the time they proposed anything, it was already the obvious answer."
